Essential Life Skills - Scarborough
Over the course of a year, we collaborated with selected primary school children in Scarborough. They were given three live design briefs for real clients and young participants in Year 6 stepped into the shoes of professional designers, working against tight deadlines to deliver and pitch their creative solutions.
Brief 1: Design a Cultural Tour
Client: Children’s University Scarborough
The students were challenged to design a map and tour showcasing creative hotspots in Scarborough. The goal was to inspire Children’s University members to explore these cultural locations in their own time, earning passport stamps along the way.
Brief 2: Design a ‘Pop-Up’ Museum
Client: Dinostar Museum, Hull
In collaboration with Dinostar owner Steve Plater, the children were tasked with creating a Dinosaur Exhibition worthy of a visit from Dinostar Steve himself. This hands-on project allowed the young designers to bring their imaginative ideas to life.
Brief 3: Design a Diversity Awareness Campaign
Client: North Yorkshire Council
The final challenge involved creating a marketing campaign focused on promoting diversity. The young designers developed a series of supporting images and materials, which were proudly showcased at a final exhibition held at Woodend Gallery in Scarborough.
